Vaginal infections: Types of infections

Vaginal infections are some common problems in women, as well as for medical care. It has been reported that vaginal infections are the presenting complaint in about 10 million cases per year. Many women with vaginal discomfort often self-medicate, which is wrongful behavior, because these women often are given inadequate treatment leading to persistent infection, cervical injury or, in the recurrence of infections.

Vaginal infections are formed into 3 groups: bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis and vulvovaginal candidiasis. These infections usually respond appropriately to treatment, may have flaws however elusive cure if not establishing a correct diagnosis or treatment indicated that it is not adequate. To avoid these failures, it is important that the affected woman go to a medical consultation, and let the doctor who diagnosed the infection and indicate that therapy should be used.
