CPR Components
* Maintain airway (nose, mouth and throat) unobstructed
* Artificial respiration (mouth to mouth) provides oxygen to the lungs where the victim is not breathing, mouth to mouth breathing, alternating with chest compressions in a specific sequence
* External heart massage, chest compression is taking place pressure on the chest wall, with hands placed on the midline at a specific point of the sternum to sink a few centimeters. When performed correctly, these compressions cause the heart to eject blood to other organs
* Call immediately for emergency medical service
Technical
* Place the affected person on his back with his head bent slightly backward, make sure it does not present obstacles in the nose and mouth to prevent free flow of air
* Occlude the victim’s nostrils with the fingers
* Support your mouth over the victim (keeping the union sealed by pressure) and blow strongly, as if inflating a balloon
After the two breaths, take his pulse. To locate it, place your fingers on your Adam’s apple and slide into the groove next to him. In case of no pulse
* Locate the lower edge of the ribs and scroll to where it joins the sternum. Point with two fingers instead (has to be the tip of the sternum covered by these two fingers), place your other hand below the fingers.
It is very important:
* Keep your arms perpendicular to the sternum
* Do not bend your arms at each compression
* No bouncing hands on the sternum (would cause internal injuries)
* No hands intertwining
Alternate two breaths to 15 compressions at a rate of 80 to 100 per minute.
After four cycles (two breaths and 15 compressions), check if you have a pulse.
Do not interrupt CPR for any reason until the specialist medical team
